Food Truck Friday Adventures

Another thing I wanted to cross off my St. Louis bucketlist was go to a Food Truck Friday. It’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like – on summer Fridays, 20+ of food trucks gather in Tower Grove Park to bestow us with their delicious food.

As you can imagine, a ton of people go to this thing. After waiting in the back of a very, very long line, we were told that the food truck ran out of food (does that even make sense?!).

So we moved on to a different truck, where we waited in another long, long line. This husky in front of us captured our interest for a while, though!

When it seemed like every food truck we lined up for ran out of food, we fell back on plan B – go somewhere else to eat. 🙁 So I didn’t get to taste the food, but I can say that I went to Food Truck Friday!

I probably won’t get a chance to go back in the near future, but here’s a tip for y’all who want to try it this summer: GO EARLY! And divide and conquer (so you can sample them all)!

So I didn’t get to taste the food of FTF, but luckily, we were in an area full of great restaurants. Our plan B was dining at Rooster on South Grand.

I was kind of surprised that inside was so empty for a Friday night, but maybe everyone was at Food Truck Friday? Good for us because there was no wait…

I was taking pictures of my food when the waiter came by and announced that it was the duck ragu. Wait, that’s what I ordered…turns out they placed Elise’s food in front of me by accident. So I got a snap of the pork confit noodle instead:

So there ya go, hope you’ll have better luck with Food Truck Friday than I did!

Have you ever been to FTF? What are your favorite restaurants in St. Louis?

Thanks for reading!

  • I’ve always wanted to go to a Food Truck event like this! That’s a bummer that you were’t able to try any of the food. I’ll definitely remember your tip to get there early!

    • Ahh yes, I hope you’ll get to go and at least taste some of the food!

  • I’ve never actually tried food from a food. Always questioned how sanitary the kitchen must be given it’s size…but they certainly are popular. So, perhaps, one day!

    • I don’t know how it is in Australia, but there are food regulatory laws in the U.S., so if the food truck doesn’t pass inspection, then I’m sure there would be no truck. 😛

When my school’s cafeteria went under construction they allowed food carts to set up in the middle of campus during lunch time. This post brings back fun memories 🙂

  • These are awesome photos Jessica, i´m wondering if I should look for some food trucks , I´m certain that they are somewhere.
    Have an awesome day
