Getting Fancy at the Jewel Box

I jumped at the chance to see not only the outside of Forest Park’s beautiful Jewel Boxbut to also party inside it when my school hosted a formal at this venue. The Jewel Box is a greenhouse located in Forest Park. It was built in 1936 but was recently renovated & cleaned so that it could be rented out for receptions and parties. I was sure it looked beautiful during the day, but at night? Absolutely spectacular!

Why is there a giant cake outside? Explanation in this post.

First thing I saw upon entering:

Wowza.

Now that I’ve read up on the building’s background, all these plants around us made more sense.

What’s a formal without playing a little dress-up?

I’m so fancy, you already know… (Photocred: Kara)
Photo strips printed from the photo booth were turned into bookmarks. Nice touch!

I had a hella good time being a silly senior in a predominately freshman dance! I never went to these formals as a underclassman, so why not YOLO in my last year here? Honestly, I had a better time there as a senior than I would have had as a self-conscious little freshman. Because old people get away with everything, including busting out embarrassingly mad dance moves, right? No shame.
