On my final night in London, there was one more thing that I needed to cross off my list – go up the London Eye, of course!
Yes, the price is steep and the lines are long (but not if you buy the fast pass). But I was pleasantly surprised by what nice views I saw from up there! In fact, I’d say they’re even better than the ones from the Shard because I was smack in the middle of London and there was less reflection on the glass so I could actually see things.
Since it was a ride, I thought we had to be sitting in our seats the entire time. That was not the case! I was able to walk around the capsule and see London from all angles.
It was a good idea to go up on the last day because I could now recognize certain buildings, like this bebeh here:
And I also now know what the Shard looks like (that pointy building in the back) to find it in London’s skyline.
Ok, juuust one more pic of Big Ben:
Some people may not think it’s worth going up the Eye for its cost (fast pass ticket was 31 pounds), but I felt I got my money’s worth after riding it for 30 minutes while watching the sun set over the city. These pictures can only capture so much, so I would recommend seeing it for yourself!
Now that I’ve gone on the London Eye once, I think I’ll be good for a long while. Though I imagine it’d be a totally different experience if I were to go when the night is completely dark!
Have you ever been up the London Eye? What did you think?
Thanks for reading!
