October ’15 In Review

October 2015 in Review

In these last few weeks of October, it’s finally beginning to feel more like fall. Like, it’s no longer 90 degrees (like it was mid-October when I went to the State Fair) but in the 70’s. It’s crazy to hear about other parts of the country that’s experiencing snow right now! What’s fall like for you, wherever you are?

The main thing that happened this month was my 7 day trip to the East Coast, covering NYC, D.C., Boston, and R.I. Here’s a few posts from that trip:

NIGHT TOUR OF NEW YORK CITY

New York Skyline at Night

AN EMPIRE STATE OF MIND

New York City from Empire State Building

STATUE OF LIBERTY CRUISE

Statue of Liberty

REVISITING THE MET MUSEUM OF ART

Then back at home, there were a couple of fun events happening in Dallas:

TEXAS STATE FAIR

TACOLANDIA – A TACO LOVER’S PARADISE

ABCD7816

IRL (In Real Life)

Books:

Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things
Why Not Me?
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
The Good Girl

TV/Movies:

  • The Martian
  • Arrow
  • Trainwreck (I discovered I love Amy Schumer!)

Ok, and now time for a little real talk. Lately, I haven’t been super motivated to write in the blog. When I get home from work, I’m so tired that all I want to do is eat and veg out in front of the TV. Even though I have exciting content to post, my body and brain aren’t excited to actually do it. Is this something that every blogger goes through? Have you ever gone through writer’s block? How did you overcome it?

This blog is my brainchild and I’d really like to keep it alive! Help #savetheblog! Hearing from readers definitely helps ante up my motivation and inspiration.

Thanks for reading!

  • It looks/sounds like October was such a wonderful month! When I was living in California, I hated fall because it was so dang hot (for me, haha). Now that I’m back in Washington, it’s mostly rainy/gray, but at least the rain makes for bold colors! About feeling unmotivated, I think it’s important to not get discouraged. Past that, I think it’s something everyone goes through at times (cough me, cough now) and just know that it’ll pass if you let it, and you’ll be back to your motivated/inspired self with a little time! 🙂 You got this, girl!

    • Oh where in Washington? My plan is to visit Portland/Seattle next!

Thanks for the encouraging words Kathryn! Hearing from you guys really inspires me to continue writing. Hope you’ll get through your block soon too!

      • I’m a few hours west of Seattle, a small little town 🙂

  • Still so jealous of your trip to Tacolandia! Everything looked so delicious! I think that we all have those days when you’re not super motivated to write posts for our blog. I would say don’t force it because you don’t want to compromise the great content that you always put out here. This time will pass and you’ll be back in full force before long!

    • Hehe you’ll just have to come up next year when it happens.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. I started reading other blogs again and that has inspired me for the time being.

  • You’ve seriously had such a wonderful month! I love all the wonderful photos. 🙂
