Plano Balloon Festival

Ah, so this post is coming in a little late since the Plano Balloon Festival was a couple weekends ago. I’m trying to figure out a more consistent posting schedule around my new job (!!!), but until then, better late than never, right?

This was my second hot air balloon festival, with the first one being in St. Louis last year! Though I grew up in DFW, I’ve never attended the Plano Balloon Festival. Now that I’m back in town, I have quite a bit of rediscovering Dallas to do.

So the biggest difference from the St. Louis one was visitors could not walk among the balloons. Boo… Instead, we staked out a spot behind the roped-off balloons to watch the upcoming show:

Look, it’s Sylvester but not really Sylvester! For legal reasons they couldn’t call him that…
A selfie-must while waiting for the balloons to fire up

For the same legal reasons, this was not Tweety, but Yellow Bird. >.>

Aaand a picture with my dear aunt right before the end of the show

After the balloon glow was over, there was still plenty to do – mainly explore booths selling junk food, knickknacks, and giving out free samples galore!

Christina and I collected a fair share of free products. Advil and vitamins, ftw 😉

I was surprised by how our little suburb made the most of this festival! Fun music, free samples, and a hot air balloon display – what more could you want?

Have you been to a hot air balloon festival? Where was it? Seeing the hot air balloons rise over Cappadocia, Turkey is on my bucketlist!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. Balloon Glow in St. Louis

  • I’ve never been too a balloon festival before, but it looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon, but my boyfriend is terrified of them, and I reeeeally don’t want to do it alone. I’m gonna have to look into when the next festival is…I have to see one!

    • It would be so awesome to ride in a hot air balloon. I, however, have no idea where I would go to do that xD If you ever find out lemme know!

Seeing the hot balloons in Turkey is def on my bucket list too! Did they launch the balloons into the air too? I loooove seeing all the different food booths at festivals and street fairs and such. There’s so many yummy foods that are hard to find day to day.

    • Yeah they do!! If you google it, you’ll be sure to come across amaaazing pics of the balloons afloat during sunset or sunrise.

Oh the food! I’ll actually be trying out the newest kinds of fried foods at the Texas State Fair this weekend. Do you have a favorite festival or fair food?

  • I had no idea that Plano had a hot air ballon festival! That looks like such a fun thing to do, right in your own backyard!

    • Yup, glad I (finally) went after all these years, haha. Anything cool happening lately in Houston?
