Tower of Pisa

When I was in Pisa there was only one thing that I needed to see. Hence, que the million touristy pics that I took with the infamous leaning tower of Pisa!

You can push it
Carry it
Kick it

And even hold it:

There were a million photo-ops there. I sure had fun getting creative with it!

But this was only a picture stop on my tour, which literally meant we only stopped to take pictures (oh my God, we were one of those tourists). Unfortunately, I didn’t have a guide telling me the history or anything. However, I did learn that it took 177 years to finish building the tower. Lol, what? And after all that time they still couldn’t get it to stand straight?

Well, thanks to Wikipedia (who needs a tour guide when you have Wikipedia), the tilt began during construction because its foundation was laid on ground that was too soft on one side. “The tilt increased in the decades before the structure was completed, and gradually increased until the structure was stabilized (and the tilt partially corrected) by efforts in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.”

In contrast to what I thought before, the Tower of Pisa is next to other buildings (it always seemed so solitary in photos). The one in the foreground is the baptistery.

And it’s right next to the cathedral

I know that it’s kind of shallow to only see the leaning tower while in Pisa. So tell me, what other goodies does this city offer? What else would you go see & do here? Or is seeing the tower enough?

Have you ever been to the Tower of Pisa? How did you pose with it? 😉

The moment before becoming airborn…
Up, up, and away!

Thanks for reading!

  • AWESOMEEEEE Photos of Pisa, when I went it, it was in the night, was a little disappointed because I was running out of time. But this in the day, looooks GORGEOUS! haha your photos = utter happiness. I love it! wishing you the best on all your trips, xx

    • Thank you! Was it at least lit up at night when you went? No matter where I go I always feel like I’m running out of time…

Fun photos with the Pisa! I like the one where you’re carrying it hehe. I didn’t realize there was a huge cathedral next to the Pisa. You’re right, you only ever see pictures of the Pisa, not with the other buildings near by. Shame your tour guide didn’t fill you in on any information about the Pisa :/

    • Ahaha, thanks! See, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought so. And that’s why I travel, to see stuff in person and gain a better understanding of the world 🙂

  • hahahah so much fun!! i wonder which is the most creative pose ppl come up with with the pisa in the world
